    Pogo: Another Web Browser?

Here's the demo on AT&T's new web browser called Pogo for anyone interested:

    AT&T Pogo - Product Demo

From what I understand, the browser requires a 1.6GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, and a video card with at least 256MB of VRAM. Not sure if it will be available for Linux users. Either way, I'll probably be sticking with Firefox.

haha that's quite a bit of resources for just a web browser.
i watched the video, it just seems like a normal web browser overbloated with eyecandy

seems like it would be almost impossible for anyoine running vista to use this.

Yep, definitely seems to be a bit on the heavy end of the spectrum.

I read and article with some shots and movies on it. Doesn't look like anything I'd use, personally. I see "eye candy for the sake of eye candy" as a virus that's infecting modern-day user interface programming. I don't want "widgets", "gagdets", or "plasmoids". I sure as hell don't want a web browser that looks like the bastard child of iTunes CoverFlow and Sun's Project Looking Glass.

An early prediction here that it will be short lived.

Yuck! uke: That is one application I definitely won't be tempted to try - even if it does work on Linux. Strange, though, how something so obviously made to look like Vista is running on an XP machine. Perhaps they can't find a computer powerful enough to run it on Vista.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to Firefox 3: that's one thing I will be installing!

I dunno. I think it looks pretty cool. Yeah, heavy as all hell, and a beast to run just for checking your email, but, what can I say -- I like eye candy.

Aside from the obvious, over the top, eye candy, it looks like it could solve a few problems. E.g. visual bookmarks/history, so you don't have to read every damn url to figure out where that link is that you read a week ago, but you can't find on google any more. Much easier to browse through images of the sites you visited til you find the one you want. (Yes, I plagiarised this comment from Slashdot.)

But, alas, I can't see them making a linux version of this, so I'll be staying with trusty ol'firefox for the forseeable future.

I think a lot of the ideas could be useful, and hopefully this will prompt Mozilla and Microsoft to finally put something in their browsers for users to get excited about.

    Holy Cow!

That's a lot of resources just to browse the web. And to think I
complain about how heavy Firefox is becoming!

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

It's my understanding that this browser is based on Firefox, so if some really good features are implemented by AT&T, maybe the Firefox folks will eventually incorporate them into the default browser.
