    Greetings

    I'm new here and I am glad to have found you.

    My frustration with my new Vista laptop has led me to FOSS and GNU/Linux.
    I came to the forum with a particular problem that I'll post under Linux installation. Succinctly, it is a problem with Vista turning off the sound on my laptop when I play and try to use various Linux Live CD's. I'm looking for a work - around.

    I am a boomer who has used computers at work since the 1980's (MS-DOS days). Now retired, I intend to pursue and develop interests in instrumental music, possibly home recording, writing, and travel. Oh, also want to learn more about open source computing.

    Checking things out on the web and want to work in dual - boot mode and hope to go "all Linux" eventually someday.
