Following Devils Casper lead on prank email scams.....
This one isn't as exciting, but I wanted to share a story I have quite frequently. It's the usual bank account fraud emails. I pretend to go along with it. Emails are very similar to this one:
I have a saved file called Per.Acc.Info.txt that I attach in my replies. My subject line is always something like, "No way!! I'm totally in... thanks man!!" Then they get the email and open up the attachment that says this (minus some color commentary I cannot say here):Dear Friend
I am ALIU BIKO personal Assistant to the Branch Manager of Bank Of Africa(BOA)Ouagadougou Burkina Faso I want to inquire from you if you can handle this transaction for mutual benefits/life opportunity for you and me.The transaction is about seeking your consent to present you as the next of kin/ beneficiary of the US$15Million dollars who is a customer to the bank where i work.He died with his family during their vacation journey. Just send me an email with your Social Security, Bank Account Number, and current mailing address.
I am waiting for your response.
Mr.Aliu biko
Do you honestly think I am that stupid?!?!?!?!?! You have got to be the dumbest [person] on the planet!!!!! Because for you, my dad works for the CIA as a Liaison to MI-6. This information and email had been given to him. The file you just downloaded has a hidden file piggybacking on it. That piggyback program is now running on the computer you are using and is tracing the IP address to your exact location. You will be located by the time you read this very sentence. If you are in a public area, the cameras have you -- smile!!! Your finger prints are on the computer and everything else you have touched in the building you are currently in. When you try to leave, traffic and building cameras will be available to approximate with accuracy where you go. Not to mention all the ones that picked you up as you entered the building you will be leaving. If you get in a car, your license plate will be known before you even start the ignition. By the time you get home, the CIA and MI-6 will have your name, date of birth, medical history, credit report, all known aliases, any other forms of fraud you have been a part of, and your [behind] on a leash. There are so many newbies dying for a chance to prove themselves to their respective agencies and you just gave them that chance.
In other words, you're [screwed]!!!!Using Linux since June 2007

I'm really tempted to email someone back - just pick a random spam email.
