Whoah! It's been a long time since I've seen a distro release early. That's good work from those guys. I suppose that's one way to try ease the network congestion problems on launch day

I have downloaded and tried the new release. It has the same bugs as the release candidate on my HP laptop: screen dims on startup, sudo fails after changing the domain name and they still didn't add lvm support out of the box. Also it feels a bit slower than the RC. Kind of disappointing... especially for a LTS release.

Now I'm waiting for fedora 9 and gentoo 2008. Pity...

I haven't tried mine out yet, and I managed not to give the betas a go. I have the CD burnt here to try out when I get home.

I'm quite excited. It's very sad

I haven't downloaded an ISO since the release candidate, but I did order a disc from Shipit. I'll try a clean install when I get the disc and see if it's any better. So far I've run into issues on my desktop with 8.04 but not on the laptop. I, too, expected more from an LTS.

i downloaded it but i dug around for mirrors not publicly listed on ubuntu's website. it was a lot faster that way. Rochester Institute of Tech is where i got them from. usually the first day a new release comes out the site just gets pegged so bad i was waiting for a week or longer to get a faster download.

The first version of Ubuntu I've ever tried was the first LTS version and it was great back then. Hopefully this one won't disappoint since 7.04 and 7.10 have been disappointing to me...

I only had a quick play last night but I did notice that my hard drives and partitions weren't added to my fstab by default - Maybe I missed something on the install.

Other than that it did look good, I liked the new lit up back ground.
