Because an OS that tries to take your money, for the things it should do for free is a terrorist. I.E. An OS that will not provide anti-virus protection without $$$ for Norton and trying to get you to sign up to a crap deal for more than 1MB mail storage for $$$ when you can get 100MB free with yahoo.
If I was a carpneter and made a table that lost a leg on its first use, I would be embaressed, but for the makers of XP and ME, they make a table that can no stand and blame the users for not hiring carpenters.
Anti-virus should be free with any OS.

or, in linux's case, unneeded. Granted part of that is obscurity , but the other past is a well designed system.
