    flash in 64 bit os

Been a while since I've created my own thread, most of my posts have been geared towards helping others.

I am frustrated at the lack of a 64 bit flash plugin. You would think that they could either make the plugin natively 64 bit, or actually ensure that the nswrapper and 64 bit plugin actually worked without having many problems. Seeing as it is becoming more and more likely for people to use 64 bit OS due to the address limitations of 32 bit computing and 4 GB of ram is becoming more common these days (which is why i'm using 64 bit Ubuntu), you would think they would have a better grasp on this. I am just frustrated as yesterday I was perfectly happy listening to pandora radio and today I come into work and open up firefox and go to pandora only to have it NOT work anymore, which is strange since it just worked yesterday. Anyways, this is the end of my rant. BTW if anyone has come across this problem in 8.04 Ubuntu x64 and has figured a solution please enlighten me, I have gone through other fixes on forums with no luck.

I understand your frustration, and you're not the first person who's asked about it. I really don't understand the hold up from Adobe. They just released a new version of the Flash Player (v10) for Mac/Win/Lin so they're obviously working on *something*, but I don't see why even a beta 64-bit version hasn't been released.

Yup, it's really frustrating. On a 32-bit Arch system, installing the flash plugin is as easy as:
    Code:
    pacman -S flashplugin
On a 64-bit Arch system, you have to go through all of this.

The 64-bit version of Gnash works ok. Have you given it a try? It's still beta software- with everything that entails- but at least it's 64-bit native.

Personally, I kind of like not having flash installed. It makes an excellent adblock all by itself.

i didn't have any luck with gnash either, but without flash I have no pandora and no youtube, which are the primary reasons for having flash installed

Oh lawd... is dat the answer?

I did this method before, it's a bit of a shame having to cut down to a 32bit browser but it worked fan-daby-taboulously.
