SUSE 10.3 Samba PDC Install Hell
I am attempting to install/configure the subject server on a Netvista 64bit processor equipped box. Server is up, and functioning. Samba works, intermittently (shares), and I believe I can get it to work adequately. The dilemma, which has driven me to the edge, is in trying to set up Samba as a PDC. I have downloaded and attempted to follow the directions from a number of online sources, and consistently encounter terminal difficulties when I get to the point where MySQL-devel is being manually loaded. You're directed to download MySQL-devel-xx-yy-zz.glibc23.arch.rpm which in my instance is MySQL-devel-5.0.51a-0.glibc23.x86_64.rpm. I have downloaded it and run rpm -ivh MySQL-devel-5.0.51a-0.glibc23.x86_64.rpm, per direction. This universally horks, wanting several glib_ _ _ _ dependency meeting files. I have done my best to find and download/install these, to no avail. Erroring out is unabated. I pretty badly want this PDC to run my small home office net (2 XP workstations, and XP Laptop, another SUSE 10.3 desktop, and a B1G1 laptop. Anybody cast any light on this MySQL dilemma? The rest of the PDC install, of course, fails until and unless you get that part right. Help!!! Please!!!!

It's been a loooooong time since I used SuSE, so apologies if this advice is incorrect, but isn't there a way to install through yast?
As far as I remember, you have to set up a few software repositories, and then install the rpm through yast. That way, if it comes up against some dependencies, it will download and install them from the repos.Registered Linux user #388328 || Registered LFS user #15880

Thanks, Steve. Good thought, but as SUSE is at pains to point out in their doco, MySQL-devel is missing from YAST. Got a second choice?
Thx,
