    Hello all! Just joined! :)

Hi people, I've just joined the community.

I've occasionally used Linux the past two years-- but I couldn't make a complete switch to it until recently. The truth is that I need Adobe Photoshop, and for this single application I was stuck with Windows XP.

About two months ago, I tried running Photoshop with Wine. The result was to wipe Windows from my hard drive. However, later I saw that no matter how good Wine is, it's in no way close to the real Windows environment. Not wanting to go back to my old OS, I tried virtualization. Now I run Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon, and thanks to VirtualBox, Windows XP when I need to run Photoshop.

    Spyros,

    Welcome to Linuxforums!

Sounds like you're adapting to the switch quite well. Linux is so much more reliable, and pleasant to work with. Coincidentally, I'm looking for a virtualization solution that satisfies my needs. Kinda looks like VM Workstation might be the candidate. I was really excited by IBM's virtualization solutions, til I found that they are designed to run on PPC's. Anyway, I'm sure you will enjoy your time spent here. Lots of good people and resources. See you 'round the boards!
