    Microsoft's despairing honesty

    Have you seen the ads for Office 2007? I think they're a hoot! They are mainly an admission that no-one actually likes the new programs. The interface confuses people; the menus have disappeared, so even experienced users don't know where anything is any more. And the new formats (a sort of bastard version of odf, I think) are incompatible with the old .doc, .xls and .ppt ones so that you have to download a plugin to read them (well, at least that's provided free).

    And Microsoft then brazenly declare that all this actually constitutes an improvement. Talk about user-friendliness!

    I tested off the charts for MENSA. Unfortunately, it was off the wrong end of the chart.
