Vacation Time! WOOT!
Hey my favorite Forum brothers/sisters!
My Family and I are going on a 4 day/night vacation to the Beautiful Texas Hill Country. We'll be leaving on Sunday and Returning on Wednesday. No Computers, MP3 players, Cable TV and all that Jazz (Ok maybe some cable TV)
. We plan to do a lot of Fishing, Swimming until we sunburn, and of course Sight Seeing. We'll be staying in one of the local rental cabins on the lake, Maybe rent a small fishing boat or wave runners. One thing is for sure, we are going to have a great time.
Hope to see you all safely still here when I return.Last edited by MikeTbob; 06-07-2008 at 12:54 AM. Reason: can't forget the sisters!

That vacation sounds like a living hell Mike! Come to your senses while you still can man!

Seriously, that sounds like a great time! I dearly love to fish too. Y'all going for largemouth? Ours is coming up the first part of July. We'll be staying 7 days on Hilton Head Island. They have a great Forest sanctuary in the plantation we'll be in for lots of great bass fishing! Gotta always be on the lookout for gators and cottonmouths though!
Have a great time Mike!

Have a good time and don't get stuck in the middle of the lake ... 2.5 miles is a long way to paddle !

ROFL, my senses are what got me into this mess Dan!
Yes, we'll be trying for the elusive largemouths but our son (13) has never has much success with catching fish, so I will make sure he at least catches a fair share of crappie as they seem to be active almost anywhere you fish.
That Hilton Head looks awesome Dan, If I'm ever in S. Carolina I'd love to see that.
Well, I don't have a laptop, or I would probably take one with me but I don't mind not having my geek hunger satisfied for a few days of relaxation. I gotta warn you though, when we get back, I'll be on the forums a bit more than usual!lol
Thanks Oz, I would love for our son to get a good size fish.I do not respond to private messages asking for Linux help, Please keep it on the forums only.

Mike, I've been trying to get my kids (4 and 7) interested in fishing for a while now. They've not had any success catching anything, so I had to "hedge" their fishing a bit.
Try this:
Tell your son you want to try out his rod and reel to see if its working properly. Cast out several times, and when you feel a strike, set the hook, press the release and say "here son... I think it's working okay." Hand him the rod and watch his eyes as he feels that tug! I did this for my daughter, and it was enough to fire her interest that she stayed with it. A while later, she caught the largest large mouth of all of us fishing! Now she's really hooked on it which is great! She'll now have a life long love for fishing that will help to keep her out of trouble through those difficult years ahead. Hey... every little bit helps.
