    Question Error -71 (on booting)

    Hello,

I am just new here. When I boot my system I get the following error message:

    USB: 1-2, device descriptor read/all error -71

I can't mount an USB drive to any of the USB ports.

Linux versions : Fedora Core 6
Hardware: Laptop DELL Latitude D520 with 4 USB ports, one used by a mouse.

The error number doesn't say anything to me.

    Ideas? Thank you

    Rudolf

    Error -71 (on booting)

No, it did happen all the time. But I didn't take care of, because everything worked.
But now I want to mount an USB drive and it didn't work, so I took a closer look to the messages while booting.

I get it too. But, in my case, the only USB thing I have is my mouse. I hope my USB isn't dying or messed up.

I've seen people with similar issues. From my experience you get this when there isn't enough power to the device, maybe try a different port? There might be dirty terminals or something too, maybe clean them?
