the new Opera browser
Recently I clicked the icon for my Opera web browser and was greeted instead with their promt to download their new browser. I knew that I would keep seeing this prompt over and over; so I clicked the setup for suse and washed my dishes while it downloaded.
I installed the new download and then got rid of my old Opera downloads in my files. I discovered that the new Opera has quirks. It double spaces down when I hit enter on my keyboard when I'm composing email. It enlarges the fonts in websites to create lines with one or two words on them.
Is anyone else having problems with the new Opera browser?Linux registered user # 414321

I don't like this new Opera at all. But never fear! Firefox 3 is soon to be officially released! I've used it, and I love it! It's much faster than Firefox 2 and I'm going to switch from Opera to Firefox 3 as soon as it's available.

Yeah, I used to be a fully licensed Opera user back when you had to pay for it. However, after version 7.x, I quickly started falling out of love with it and although I've tried just about every version since then, it no longer appeals to me at all.
Yep, I've been running Firefox 3 since beta3 was released and have never looked back. The official 3.0 version is to be released on Tuesday, but I'm thinking that the FF3-rc3 release that I'm using now will probably become the Official release.
Once you get FF3 running with the right extensions in place, it's extremely hard to find a replacement for it.oz

Ubuntu released an update yesterday that purports to be Firefox 3. I'm sure it's the release candidate, but I was suprised because they didn't do any of the early release candidates instead leaving it at beta5. All seems good to me! Now if only the plugins would catch up...

I was advised to drop the " view percentage " of Opera and at 90% the browser stops distorting websites on my computer.
Does the Opera browser contain a " phone home " program, within it's software, that lets the company know when its browser is being used??Linux registered user # 414321

lol... I'm beginning to think I'll never be totally happy with the way Firefox looks in KDE, but then I don't care at all for the way Opera looks in it either.
I've tried pretty much all the various fixes to make FF look better under KDE, and have finally gotten it to where I can live with it, but I'm still not really pleased with the overall appearance. Opera always looks really weirded out under KDE for me, too, even though it is a Qt-based application. I've played around with trying to fix it, but no real success.
Firefox seems to fit pretty well into the scheme of things with Gnome, however.oz

To my complete dismay I just discovered that all of the things that I have saved to my home folder through the new Opera are saved in text editor gedit form. Is there a way to change that?
I sent an email to opera support requesting instructions on how to save things as they appear on my screen with Opera's new browser.
Quite promply they answered and informed me that I was not entitled to any " support " because I had not purchased their " premium support package ".
I did not even look to see what it costs to buy the premium support package. I am really disgusted that Opera would prompt me to download their new browser knowing full well that it intentionally doesn't work correctly.Linux registered user # 414321

Enter creates a paragraph break. If you want a line break use Shift+Enter.
There are a few small quirks which will no doubt be fixed very shortly. Personally, I love it. It's got everything I want without forcing me to download dozens of third-party extensions that stop working at the next browser upgrade.
I'd recommend that you join the Opera Community Forum where you'll get all the help you need. There are even many Opera employees on those forums, but also lots of very skilled external experts.
