Firefox 3: Download Day (June 17th)

Hey folks, don't forget that June 17th is the day for the official release of Firefox 3 and they are trying to set a Guinness World Record for most downloads in one day:

Spread Firefox | Download Day 2008

Anyone happen to know what the current record is?

Thanks for the reminder! And no, I don't know what the record is.

I've signed up for it...I'm not sure what exactly but I signed up for it

I was part of the 'recommend Firefox to a buddy' or whatever it was called a few years back but I never got my name in the credits. Of course I'd recommend it anyway but it would have been nice. Anyway I'm all set to go for the download tomorrow.

And as much as it's not about getting credit it'd be cool to think you were part of a world record attempt.

I pledged as well. As far as I know, bigtom, all you signed up for was to download Firefox 3 some time tomorrow, which I'd planned on doing anyway.

I've pledged. What happens if you don't download? Do they come along with the thumbscrews or something!

    I've pledged.

And this is from the FAQ

Do we have to reach a specific number of downloads in order to set the record?

This is the first record attempt of its kind so there is no set number. We'd really like to outdo the number of Firefox 2 downloads on its launch day, which was 1.6 million. Let's shoot for 5 million--the sky is the limit!

Manchunian: No. They sneak in at night and install Vista on your PC. And IE7. You did read
    the licence agreement. Right?

    Elija, stop! You're scaring me!
Ozar, do you know if Firefox 3 will be available in the official Archlinux repositories today or do we have to install it by hand?

    Hehe!

It appears that for the record attempt you will have to download it manually

Serious? I was hoping to do it via pacman as it gets updated automatically.
