kakariko81280, I must of misunderstood how it works. Sorry if confused or misled you. If you haven't, I recommend you read Dr Clayton's work, it's incredible how far your jaw can really drop.

Not to worry, I've heard plenty of conflicting information on this topic. I doubt everything I think I know is right anyway.

I read one of Dr Clayton's reports. Technically very interesting, and they even cover the infinite loop caused by rejecting webwise cookies, although they say they detect and recover from it. I look forward to reading more.

I've got one more question though. I've seen it claimed that there process is illegal because of the interception and modification of traffic, presumably even if opted-out. I've also seen it claimed that what they are doing is legal, but only assertions with no explanation.

Does anyone know how this could possibly be legal?

I don't think anybody knows why they believe it to be legal.

To the best of my knowledge, Phorm have said they talked to the Home Office and an, unnamed, QC. Whilst BT have only said they took legal advice.
