You didn't state where you are located?

I hope the GA release is better. I installed the RC's on several laptops and each one froze quickly after install/first boot. >.<

I work in a pretty nerdy office. I downloaded the KDE4 version this morning and I've already burned three copies for various folks.

I downloaded the gnome version which I thought i would like better because I don't like kde but boy was I wrong. they have a custom menu that is just plain awful. its cumbersome just to navigate to a program.

Someone at work just mentioned that. He says it's called SLAB. For those unfamiliar, here's a thread on Ubuntu Forums with some screenshots:

Do you like the Slab? - Ubuntu Forums

I don't know if there's a way to get it back to the "normal" way, but I'll sure see if I can find out.

AND PEOPLE ACTUALLY LIKE IT LIKE THAT downloaded the kde version. I might try playing around to see if I can get rid of the "slab"

ps ok so i was harsh on the gnome version but the kde version is actually decent. the previous kde's had too much crap going on.

Remove it from Panel, right click on Panel and select 'Add Applet'. Select other Menu applet. I don't remember exact name now but there should be two Menu applets in the Applet list. Try both.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
