It's about time if you ask me...got rich by stealing stuff from other people.
Maybe they'll start coding some decent software right now, who knows what miracles might wait.

I've always wondered if he might secretly run Linux on his home machines to get away from all that Windows oriented malware?
Either way, I'm sure he'll thoroughly enjoy being away from the Microsoft scene, although I'll bet he'll still be pulling in mounds of money from it.oz

Perhaps you could name a few of the stolen items? It's about time if you ask me...got rich by stealing stuff from other people.
It's one thing to dis the Microsoft company for their product.
I'm a Linux Ubuntu user, and I try very hard never to buy a MS product, and haven't done so for years.
It's another thing entirely to personally bad-mouth Gates, a man that has contributed millions of dollars to charities and such.
Could it be the green monster call jealousy has nestled down in your brain?

You all may be Linux users but most of us were, at some age Windows users. I remember about six years ago, when I was 7, al we friends used to gather at one of my friends house (the only one with a computer) and used to play Aladdin (on Windows), I learnt to use Windows from them and when I had *clicked*, I felt proud that I had touched a computer.
Don't laugh too much (not offensive) but many terms (like Window, Desktop, etc) we use on computers today are Microsoft introduced."When you have nothing to say, say nothing."

I personally was depressed, a leading software company separated from its founder. I bet his work is being handled by Ray Ozzie or some one. There are three people to work together on what he used to work alone.
Probably, if Mr Gates hadn't programmed the first microcomputer, we all Linux users would have been stuck to those (Maths oriented) massive machines. Thanks to Mr Gates."When you have nothing to say, say nothing."

LOL, jealous ????? on him ????
I have absolutely nothing against him being some kind of billionaire.
What I do have a problem with is his hypocrisy when it comes to building software, to name a recent example....
Windows Vista !! It's widely known Gates stole almost the whole concept of Vista from Apple's OS X. He even used OS X in the background of a presentation to show what Vista will accomplish when it's finished.
My point ? Gates IN MY OPINION didn't become rich because he was some kind genius programmer (like Linus
), he became rich by timing when to publish certain things he "stole" from others.

OS's are like languages. Each new language inherits words from its predecessors. Similarly, the term Window is introduced by Microsoft. The term desktop is introduced by the father of the Mac, Jef Raskin. There wasn't any desktop before Mac (to the best of my knowledge). There was just a DOS or the SH on Linux. There is no concept of stealing in them.

Linux is no way an inherit of Mac OS X if that's what you're trying to say...
Each of the OS's was designed, Mac was designed from scratch, Linux was designed from scratch...how about Windows ?
They took a little bit of this, and a little bit of that and maybe added (some crap ?) themselves and glued it all together...that., IMHO, is Windows.
I suggest for everybody that's interested to read some history about Gates and Microsoft...Google
