A bit of a rant, I guess...
Have any of you had trouble with Amazon.com purchases, lately?
My last two orders from them were total flops.
About a month ago, I ordered two Logitech USB mice that they showed to have "in stock". Right away I got the confirmation saying the order was being processed and they gave a shipping date. As that date grew near, I got an email saying that they needed my approval for a delay in the shipping. I gave the approval and checked their website, but the site still showed the mice to be "in stock". As the new ship date grew near, I got another email asking for another approval for a delay in the shipping of the mice. I once again approved the delay, and upon checking their site, found that the mice still showed to be "in stock". As the new date grew near, I received yet another email asking for approval of a delay in shipping. This time, I did not approve the delay, but simply ignored the email. That order and any trace of it has mysteriously disappeared from my order history on their website.
The other day, I ordered 4 surge protectors that showed to be "in stock", and the entire process described above started happening again. This time, I sent them an email requesting that my order be canceled, my online account be canceled, and my credit card through them be canceled because I'd had enough of them if that's they way they do business. They offered to send the items with expedited shipping for free as soon as they got more in, but I've not responded to that request, as of yet. I used to get great service with Amazon, so I don't know what's up now.
Just wondering if any of you are having similar problems with them?oz

I've heard that Amazon has been running into hard times. I'm glad you said something. I was just debating a few musical purchases. Guess I'll hold off for a bit. Someone here mentioned something about an mp3 service that interfaces with Amarok. Mebbe I'll try that instead. (if I can find that post)
As for computer-related purchases, I always just use Newegg. They've never failed to satisfy. My brother, on the other hand, swears by tigerdirect.com

Yeah, I generally use Newegg for anything that I can get there, but in these cases using Amazon was going to save me a few bucks. Since it didn't work out at all as expected, I did get the items sent right away through Newegg.

Yeah. It was Amazon.co.uk though and it wasn't their fault. The drongos they
are using to deliver things now couldn't find their arses in the dark and they
certainly couldn't find where I live.
In the end I told Amazon to cancel the order and refund my money (they did)
and I got it from PC World instead. It may have cost a little bit more but at
least I have it!
Will I use Amazon again?
I don't know. Their customer service rep was brilliant, so I would probably ring
up first and see if they have changed courier. If not, I'll tell them I'll be going
elsewhere.
I supose I could say that it is their fault for using thise idiots. If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate! (Zapp Brannigan)
My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

The thing that was really bugging me about all this is that their website kept saying "in stock" on these items when they weren't, and the fact that this continued to happen after they clearly knew that the items were NOT in stock.
It's doubtful that I'll order there again, but only time will tell.oz

I haven't ordered much from them but I've always had good luck. True, I do order through amazon.ca but I can't imagine that the service is drastically different from both. I did get confirmation once really late but that was because I used the system where you buy from other people as opposed to from Amazon directly (I forget what that's called).
