Thanks for your note. I have rwo NVidia 6800's in my computer-no trouble at all installing in 7.10, 8.04. I suggest stay away from 8.10 alpha-its a mess. By the way, My wife and I spent a night in Llangollen (sp?) drinking and singing and drinking, Good luck on NVidia. Les

Hello Everyone!

I'm Tay, Nigerian living in Ethiopia. Dating W*ndows, but I'm cheating on her with my new mistress Linux, she's really something, still trying to figure her out.

We're talking and everything and everything is going fine so far. I guess I'll get to know her better from other lucky peeps that know her a lot better than I do.

Many thanks to the people of this forum!

Hello Kinyua,

I'd like to help you but need a bit more info first:
  1. How did you install Kubuntu?
  2. Are you dual booting with XP?
  3. What boot loader are you using - Windows, GRUB, Lilo, or something else?
All the best,

Jeremy

I dual boot with Windows XP SP3 using Windows.
I installed Kubuntu manually from a CD am not sure what you meant to know by asking how I installed it.
I defragmented one of my drives in order to install Kde 4 Ubuntu into the remaining space since i have quite a small disk space wich in itself is a problem because when i even try to uninstall SP3 it tells me that Windows needs more disk space to do so.

Based on the above, this should be fairly quick and painless.
  1. Make a full backup of all important data, files etc.
  2. Boot into Windows
  3. Copy C:\BOOT.INI to another name e.g. BOOT-INI.TXT
  4. Edit BOOT.INI with Notepad
  5. Delete the line for Linux
  6. Save BOOT.INI
  7. Reboot and see if only Windows is available
  8. If so, great. Carry on into Windows
  9. If not, then you aren't using the Windows bootloader. Boot into Windows, restore the backup of BOOT.INI, ask for more help
  10. Assuming all went as planned, right click on My Computer and select Manage
  11. When the management console appears click on Disk Management
  12. Locate your Kubuntu partition(s) and delete them. Odds are that Windows will report them as "Unknown" type.

Hey Presto, you have your space back ready to try Mint.

All the best,

Jeremy
