Based on the above, this should be fairly quick and painless.

1. Make a full backup of all important data, files etc.
2. Boot into Windows
3. Copy C:\BOOT.INI to another name e.g. BOOT-INI.TXT
4. Edit BOOT.INI with Notepad
5. Delete the line for Linux
6. Save BOOT.INI
7. Reboot and see if only Windows is available
8. If so, great. Carry on into Windows
9. If not, then you aren't using the Windows bootloader. Boot into Windows, restore the backup of BOOT.INI, ask for more help
10. Assuming all went as planned, right click on My Computer and select Manage
11. When the management console appears click on Disk Management
12. Locate your Kubuntu partition(s) and delete them. Odds are that Windows will report them as "Unknown" type.

Hey Presto, you have your space back ready to try Mint.

I think I messed my MBR in the process and ended up with a bad GRUB as it turns out.
I will reinstall XP with the recovery CD and see what happens.

Wen i checked the BOOT.INI file actually it dint have UBUNTU on it so as you said I was not using Windows.
Once i fix the bootloader i hope you will still be here to guide me through the rest of the processess.

OK, don't panic. You may be able to reinstate the Windows bootloader without resorting to a full install.
Here's a nice tip from our friends over at NTFS.COM

The simplest way to repair or re-create MBR is to run Microsoft's standard utility called FDISK with a parameter /MBR, like

A:\> FDISK.EXE /MBR

FDISK is a standard utility included in MS-DOS, Windows 95, 98, ME.

If you have Windows NT / 2000 / XP, you can boot from startup floppy disks or CD-ROM, choose repair option during setup, and run Recovery Console. When you are logged on, you can run FIXMBR command to fix MBR.

I repaired it fortunately thanks again.
I installed Ubuntu 8.04 now simply because i want to easily write C codes wich i run in uni. I dont necessarily need the internet but how do i connect my usb adapter to my wireless router.

I imagine i have to switch to root and run some sudo commands, wuld you have a really precise link on how to setup my WLAN.

I am delighted you managed to rebuild your MBR without resorting to a full reinstallation.

I'm a Mandriva/RedHat/CentOS guy so I suggest you take a look at the Ubuntu Help Forum which is also on this site.

Setting up your wireless card will depend on the make and model of the card, your router, and what level of security you have configured on the router (WEP, WPA etc).
