    Hi!
Joe here - 25 years programming (Mainframe, mostly), zero experience with Linux. Downloaded Ubuntu, and got weird bars on my display... The search begins.....

Hello all, My name is Richard, [kids call me Grandpa], [friends on the net call me 'Bojingles'], my wife and I are retired, living in the remote mountains of Montana, usa. We do get back to civilization about once a month though, [trip into town] otherwise, the internet is basically our only touch with the 'outter' world..:-} So a BIG HELLO to ALL!

    The Quest Continues...

... using some flavour of GNU/Linux since a little more than a year now. (I like to xperiment a bit and try out diff. distros).
The more I learn about the *nix way of doing things, the more I understand how little I really DO know!!!

However, I still need WinXP as well for my (wannabe) music creation/production thingie-ma-jingie.
Maybe one day I'll be able to do it all in Linux.

    Cheers guys, and:
    don't worry, be happy

I don't know if I'm the right one to say this, but I think this question should be asked in it's own thread when you can't find some thing with a web search. This question isn't in line with the thread.

    Good luck finding your answer!

Hi, I'm Kurt in Vancouver, Canada, and have been using Linux since 1998. starting with Debian Slink. It didn't take me long to switch to Redhat 5.1. I 've just repeated that switch, having put Ubuntu (Hardy) onto a new box. Gnome kept freezing (shades of WIN 9, and so I overwrote it with Fedora 9 and other than the difficulty of getting something as elementary as flash to work, I'm impressed so far. Looking forward to getting to know all of you soon, Kurt
