Displaced Texan
Howdy y'all!
Hey ... where's the coffee and donuts? Not even any pizza rolls or anything of the like?
I'm from Texas and I recently moved to Nebraska to be near(er) to my next-to-older sis and her kids. Besides, I felt like I needed to be nearer to family. I was born in Texas as well as my 'n2o' sis and mom. My dad and older sis ("os"
) were born in S.Dak. My folks thought it'd be safer for us kids growing up to live in S.D., so moved there the summer I turned 9 and I lived there until I was 27; my dad had died in 1985 (at 55!) and I moved back to Tx 2 yrs later. And so I stayed up until about 4 months ago.
I've been a Linux fan and user for over 20 years now...I'ved tried a lot of different distro's and many of the 'flavors' of some of those different distro's. I have my (old) favorites and some new ones also, as well as likes and dislikes for each. While I prefer Linux, I've have to admit that I have been forced to use Windows, as well. I wish that wine was further along in their support of Windows-based programs so we wouldn't be 'forced' to their whims!! Still and all, if I could keep to Linux I would...my present problem with the linux I've tried installing and detecting my wireless PCI card has given me the blues!!! (I won't go fuirther into the details of that here, tho)
I've got a kind of weird sense of humor...sometimes it's a bit 'dry', sometimes it's kind of 'out-of-this-dimension'.
I've had people confuse my sense of humor as sarcastic...it REALLY is not, though - - I promise y'all on that! I respect people and their wisdom (yep! we all have it, like it or no...even if it doesn't seem like some do [maybe they just don't know how to use it correctly?
])
I'm glad to be a part of another Linux site!!!! Looking forward to making new friends, as well!!!!

where to begin?
well, I'm not much of a social type of guy, but I somehow have found my way to this coffee lounge so,...hello everyone.
I mainly came here for some help on my KDE that I'm having some slight trouble with but this place looks like it will help a lot.

Just one question,
Where are you? That's what this thread is about. Welcome to the forums by the way.
