    Talking hi everybody there ~

    hellow

    i am from taiwan ( it's a little island in asia )

in the past .... ... well, about ten years ... , I have had myself Linux installations with various kind of distributions on PC for dozen times , tried to get rid of MS 2000 and XP ,
    but I failed.
    I didn't read enough book, I didn't focus.

now I am still trying, I don't know why this idea of knowing LInux well is always on my mind.
I got a IBM laptop with MS XP, so I can install Linux into my little AMD PC without job delay. haha !

ok, my dream is have myself a little LAMP server , also running FTP and Mail services.
sure, it's a long way to go.

I am glad to be here, a place I can say something about Linux and read something about it.
of course my English is bit poor, but well i think you won't mind that anyway

job load is not that heavy now, so I can have some time for myself to read some book about Linux,
    and play it.
I think I am very lucky. wa haha

have a nice day to you all

Not really, just do a google search and you'll find hundreds of hits. If you can't figure out what you should do then, just make a new thread and we'll be glad to help you.

I've seen worse around. I've got class mates who don't even understand what I say when I ask them how they are doing (in English of course).

I guess we're all lucky to be able to be members of this forum.

I am originally from Bhubaneswar, Orissa, India but pursuing my Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics at the Indian Statistical Institute, Bangalore, India.

I am a big fan of Linux and hope to learn lots of interesting stuff from discussions in this forum.

EDIT(would like to add a 'little' more):
I was introduced to Ubuntu Linux by a friend in my 11th standard (grade).
I started with a dual boot with Windows XP then on my desktop. I could never connect to the BSNL broadband connection via linux (and without an internet, I had no audio or video codecs, no software, nothing). I felt like any other newbie that Linux was sth very user-unfriendly.

I got a laptop with Windows Vista and got pissed off with its performance and demands. And then decided to have a complete linux box (now Ubuntu 8.10) when I came across the various free and open source alternatives available. The Ubuntu Forums was a great help and finally I was able to get rid of almost all troubles I faced.

Although for using some CDs, reading ebooks through MR reader, etc I have kept Windows XP in VirtualBox.

I am learning some basic bash shell scripting by myself. The greatest satisfaction in using Linux comes from the sense of control it gives to you over your computer unlike MS Windows which keeps everything hidden and look like magic.

I love the kind and amount of enthusiastic community support that Linux has.

    Long live Tux.

This site has been a big help as I make the transition from MS to Linux. It's been fascinating so far (sure, some hair loss and a fist mark in a laptop screen too). Hope to add some helpful input as well, in order to give back to this crew.
