    Best Laplop distro

What do you all think is the best all around distro for a Laptop? I've tried Fedora 2 and Mandrake 10.0 but both suffer the same limitation with power management and display settings. I've also tried Knoppix but it won't even detect my mouse.

Any distros work really well with a Laptop?

I have Debian unstable running perfectly on a Thinkpad T30, though i did need a kernel upgrade to make any progress with my wireless network.

Try putting your laptop make and model into google, preceeded or followed by the word "linux", you may find someone else already successfully running a distro on their own laptop and explaining how they did it.

Thanks! I've read just about everything under Compaq Armada m700 Linux that comes up under google, but none seem to interested in solving some of the mysteries that I'm having, they just let there's go.

Also, not a one of them is specific to kernel 2.6 (some are even 2.2)

All I ever use is slackware. And I have 9.0 running on a Toshiba Sattelite.

Along this line, is there perhaps a knoppix variation or something specificaly for laptops? any livebootable CD oriented for laptops would be nice.

Slack 10 or Gentoo installed with either an SuSe or Knoppix bootable CD for emergencies.
