Typical joke: is this thing on? ahaha!

Hi there, as you can certanly see, I'm a new member.
First, some useful personal info: I'm a 16 year old kid - yes, I'm full aware that I'll be stalked and flamed and called "kid" over the next few weeks, but I'm kinda used to that, no big deal. I'm from Portugal, most exactly Oporto. At the time, I'm on vacations, full free time. I'm studying to have a job somewhat related to Economics - I know, that's somehow vague, but it's not fully decided, yet.

I know this "Lunix" [sic] thing since I was 14 (almost two years and a half years, now). My first experience was expecting me shortly with Virtual Machines. Good ol' Ubuntu 6.06 times. GNU/Linux it's my full time OS since 03/2007, if I can remember correctly. My first full time experience was with Ubuntu 6.10, for a short period of time; Ubuntu 7.04 was about to be released, and I updated my system. Bad decision, it sucked.
In the need for something new, but still easy, I've upgraded to Debian Etch, and 2 months after, Debian Lenny. After that, follows my 1st successfull experience with Gentoo Linux (I had some failed tries before). But for me, Gentoo it's still a no-go. I rather prefer binary. I got back to Lenny.
Meanwhile, I've switched to ArchLinux until now, although I've tried both i686 and x86_64 branches. I'm a convicted i686 user now, after using Ubuntu, Debian and Gentoo x86_64/amd64 versions.

Well, my registration here isn't due to doubts. I know my way around and I've learned a long time ago a precious rule: USE GOOGLE! In spite of looking for solutions here, I'm looking for some neat flame exchan.. sorry, some neat discussions about GNU/Linux, and, of course, increase my knowledge. Oh, and share my poor knowledge, too!

Oh, I almost forgot. Two things:
    - I don't know any programming/scripting languages besides some basic knowledge of bash script.
    - My English is a little poor, so, excuse me for some mistake.

    Greets, esquiso.

    Hi, esquiso! Welcome to LinuxForums!

Don't worry... I don't think you'll have too many jokes made about your age... we have some members who are even younger than you are! Don't worry about your English, either. Everybody here mangles it, too!

    Have fun, visit often!

    Welcome!

...I'm horrible with names, but you know that l33t group of first hackers from MIT --one of them was a 12 year old.
As long as you know what you're talking about (and know when to shut up), you'll be surprised how often you'll "fit in."
(heh, and even if you don't know when to shut up, you'll probably be fine anyways ^,^)

I've been coming here for ages, imagine I'm 16 atm and then imagine my age based off when I first joined.

Edit: 4 years... been here according to my calculcations since I was 12

I've been tinkering with Linux for a long long time and to be honest most people you get that think less of you because of your age are the hardcore supposed elites that think they're part of a special group...

Anyhoo, nice to see you, Ubuntu is defiantly a good starting distro and it will hold you and help you to your feet on Linux.
