    Hi All...

    Hi All,

Just a quick hello to all here. I've been a user of unix/linux for the past 10 years and I've tried out a number of distros, namely Suse, Mandrake, Redhad and Ubuntu and was using Sun Solaris for a few years also. Ubuntu is probably my favorite, I'm an on-off user at home but a continuous user at work.

Well that's my lot, hope I can get and if possible give some answers!

    Later...

Welcome to the forum Buzzthebuzzsaw. Any ideas on which distro you'll go with this time? I find it useful to play around as much as possible until you find one that suits you. I'd say I tried out thirty or forty distros before I stuck with one. Of course that ended up being one of the first ones I tried but there you go

I've no choice at work so we're using Redhat whether I like it or not. Personally I've used Ubuntu the most and been pretty impressed with it. I've tried getting one of the 'small' distros like dsl working on an old Pentium 3 633Mhz 128Meg Ram machine without any luck, but I think I was pushing it. I have to spend some more time looking at distros before I can make an informed choice.

It tried Antix, but couldn't get my computer to boot from the CD. I'll give it another shot and see if I can get it installed. I really only want to use the computer as a NAS and to do some torrent downloading so it shouldn't need too much power.

    Have you thought about Puppy?

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.
