Request for information: linux softwore
Dear Sirs,
I have been using a computer for about 6 months. This week I found out about linux. I like what I hear. In an attempt to make windows do As I wished I learned a few rather limited scripting languages, and have started on java. It is my hope that linux will do as promised and provide a greater degree of control and range of options for a computer. I can not help but feel that windows is a case of the tail wagging the dog.... Alas I have become proficient with windows, most of the world seems stuck on Microsoft as well. I have three programs that I have found to be very useful. It took me most of the last six months to find them, and I would like to know if I can find a linux version or perhaps an analogous linux program for each function.
Powerpro -- a desktop diddler that lets you do lots of stuff. Set keyboard short cuts, make simple scripts, and meddle with windows settings
E-speaking -- a voice recognition program
Roboform -- a password/login mannager
For what it is worth I have only begun to scratch the surface of linux (Debian). Any input is welcome.
