raise money for the fsf or another nonprofit by using goodsearch

Raise money for the free software foundation or another 1 of the 61,000 nonprofits just by using goodsearch.com. I haven't found any other nonprofits that are connected to Linux but they can be added.

    How does it work?
On the GoodSearch homepage, choose from thousands of organizations or add your favorite cause to our list.
Search the Internet just like you normally would — the site is powered by Yahoo!, so you'll get high-quality search results.
Fifty percent of the revenue generated from advertisers is shared with the charity, school or nonprofit organization of your choosing.

Oh and you can also raise money by shopping I know newegg is on the list of stores

How do I raise money for my favorite charity or school with GoodShop?
Every time you click over to one of our partner merchants from the GoodShop site and then make a purchase, your charity or school earns money. The more you shop, the more they make! Add up the money generated from all of your shopping and the shopping done by all of the other people who use GoodShop, and we can make a real difference for many worthy causes.

I've read about 'charity surfing' before, but it seems obvious that someone somewhere is going to make money... Someone other than the charities involved I mean.

I tried the site suggested above, and notice that the charities are USA-centric. That's a bit of a giveaway then... My favourite charity has a UK office.

I don't think this is spamming at all. Goodsearch has not yet expanded outside US, but they say they're planning to. I don't know of any other charity search/shop that allows you to choose the organization so specifically.

Yahoo feels sucky when compared to Google's sorting by relevance, but anyway it's better than those click-this-button-for-charity -sites, eh? Linux and Gnome Foundations could be added for sure..

Just an idea for anyone interested...

One way to put this to the test would be for someone to contact the charities directly and ask them how much if any money they have received from the goodsearch folks.

Ok I sent an email to Free Software Foundation asking, if they have received any money and how much compared to the estimated amounts displayed (less/more). They've been listed since 2006 after all.
