    Wanting Linux Web Hosting

One of the areas of computing that I have a minimal knowledge of is in the area of websites, web design and web hosting. I really need to learn about all this because I have two businesses that need good up to date websites.

I guess the first thing at hand is to find a good reputable web hosting company? Over the years, I've kept a few domains through GoDaddy.com. They offer web hosting through Linux servers (which I of course prefer) at what appears to be a very agreeable price. Take a look...

Affordable, full service web hosting packages.

I thought about starting out with something like their economy plan and going from there. Has anyone here had experiences with GoDaddy? Good? Bad? What do you think? Any recommendations for another web hosting company you've had a really good experience with?

Any and all constructive comments and suggestions are very welcome.

I use serverpronto.com. No major problems, tech is responsive to svc tickets, and the prices are good. Wide variety of OSs to opt for.

I have never used them but when i contacted HostMonster I liked their attitude. I would have signed up with them, but their plans call for an up front one year payment.

Although I am completely new to having a website; it seems to me that a webhosts control panel for your website in just as important as the cost and reliability.

My websites designer knowing just how inept I am designed an administrative panel for me to use to administrate my website. I would be lost without it.

    Hi cousinlucky.

HostMaster is another I've been having a look at. The others are StartLogic, Dot5Hosting, BlueHost and IXWebHosting along with GoDaddy. Most are around 4 to 6 dollars a month with unlimited Disk Space and bandwith along with a host of other features.

SSH is important to me. GoDaddy doesn't provide for it under their shared server packages so I guess their out of my deliberations.

I use HostGator. They allow me to pay monthly, have ssh access, and all kinds of goodies. It is very cheap too.

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

Same here. I host my sites with hostgator and even resell their hosting service to my clients and so far I have never had any show stopping issues. The few support tickets I lodged with them were resolved very quickly.

I have hosted with godady but they really give limited access to the server. They do have good up time but I have had some slow server/latency issues with them when I used them as a file server. They have there own control panel, so as long as you can do what you want with there tools it is good.

I have also used AlienServ they offer cpanel hosting at a very reasonable rate. This gives you a lot more control over sql, php, and so forth, plus about 30 easy install apps.
