I bought an Apple imac g3 keyboard to go along with my iMac. But after using it on that for about 10 minutes I quickly unplugged it and plugged it into my usual computer. Been using ever since. I love it's feel. The only thing that annoys me every once in a while is the lack of a delete key.

That new Unicomp Model M keyboard came in today so the shipping from the Unicomp folks is really fast, or at least is was for this particular order. I ordered it late on the evening of the 10th, they shipped it on the 11th, and it's here today (the 13th). The keyboard is working fine and is definitely easier to type on for me. I'm typing faster and making fewer mistakes as I go. The clicking noise made by the keys really doesn't bother me at all, and the key presses feel great. The keyboard feels pretty rugged and must weigh in at around 5 lbs.

So far, I'm quite happy with it, but I'd still like to try one of the keyboards with the scissor-switch key technology, as I've never used one before.

I have a Model M and it is awesome. I like the dettachable cable and the key caps for easy cleaning, even though I rarely make use of them. I just like the concept. And of course no keyboard makes a more satisfying sound than the Model M.

Ok, I really like this keyboard but I've gone ahead and ordered the Das Keyboard (with Cherry mechanical switches) as well, because I want to see how it compares to this one (with buckling spring switches). Will report back once I've had a chance to really compare the two.

Whoah! That's a hefty price tag just for an experiment

I hope it lives up to its reputation. Did you get the one with the blank keys?

It's certainly not the best keyboard ever made, but I hereby want to praise my Fujitsu/Siemens keyboard. This morning, I thought my 5 years old KB could use some cleaning up. I could disassemble it easily in electronic and non-electronic parts and could also detach every single key. All nonelectronic stuff I put into the dishwasher.

Rebuilding it was as easy as disassembling, just put the keys to their position until they snap. Now the keyboard is nice and clean again, it even smells like fresh out of store How many other devices can be refurbished to such an extend after 5 years of daily use?

No sir, I thought about it long and hard before ordering but then decided at last minute to go for the Professional model with lettering rather than the Ultimate model. I am a touch typist but do occasionally look at the keys for certain symbols, or for seldom used keys and I didn't want to have to deal with the frustration of trying to figure them out. While the blank keys do look interesting, I'm not much in to the "cool" factor, so it's almost a certainty that they'd soon become a hindrance.

It would be nice (especially considering the keyboard price) if it came with a spare set of blank keys so that you could switch them out whenever you wanted. Maybe I'll look into it to see if they sell blank sets.

@GNU-Fan

Yeah, I don't think I'll try that with either of these keyboards.

Looking forward to hearing your feedback on Das Keyboard. I've been toying withg the idea of one. Marked or unmarked... es macht nichts zu mir. I'm more interested in the feel and functionality of the keys themselves.

Just an update...

After some serious searching last night, I was able to find one of the Kensington Ci73 keyboards (as recommended by Gruven above) for a really good price, so I've gone ahead and ordered it, too:

Ci73 Wired Keyboard

I'm wanting to see how the different types of keyboards compare, and having used plenty of the commonly manufactured rubber dome types over the years, it's now time to see how the mechanical-switch type keyboards and the laptop type keyboards measure up.

Will report back once I've tried each of them.

The Das Keyboard and the Kensington Ci73 keyboards came in today.

I've also ordered one more keyboard to see how the scissor-switch keys feel on it:

Anyware PK-205 Black 104 Normal Keys

I got this keyboard from another vendor for $4.99 (after rebate), so no big deal if it turns out to be crap. I just like the looks of it more than anything else. This keyboard is due to be delivered by UPS tomorrow, so once I've had time to play with all of them, I'll either post here, or start a new thread that does a quick review of all of them.

Note that I'm currently typing this on the Das Keyboard, and it rocks!
