I just forgot how easy it was to use Ubuntu for everyday tasks... The only things I needed to do was install wine so that I could run one of my favorite applications (Keynote) and the horrid Internet Explorer.
When running streamtuner I ran into a couple of problems so I had to edit the configuration file so that it could run gnome-player instead of xmms... Yes, from the command line...

I was an Ubuntu user, but now I'm a happy Archlinux user. I switched to Arch because Ubuntu I wanted to try something new. yes, Ubuntu is very easy to use, but is to "out of the box" for my demand. Anyway, I recommend Ubuntu to anybody.

I'm a convert myself and regularly promote it.
I was one of the biggest doubters of it when it released but it has really grown on me. Choice is essential and I know that people have their favourite distros and favourite ways of doing things but when I see a new user struggle with packages in Slack or complain about codecs in Fedora and openSUSE I just want to point them to Ubuntu.
Just small annoyances in other distros that have been smoothed over in Ubuntu. I know it's not perfect but it has everything I need, from great hardware support to huge repositories.

I ended up installing Debian 4.0 etch accidentally
And it worked wonderfully... Yet, it is so outdated! I am thinking about downloading testing Lenny to see how it goes. Nowadays it seems that Debian is also easy to work with. Other than the fact that the installer is text-based and that you really get to set up a root password and a user account it is very similar to Ubuntu. I am learning tons of things and despite the fact that I have had to edit configuration files I feel comfortable with Debian.
