Smile Newbie trying to run two Linux OS's on one disk

I have Edubuntu loaded on my slave drive with Windows XP running on my primary drive. I used gparted live to partition hda1 into three partitions for /, /home, and swap . All is working well with Grub on the primary running as the boot loader.

Now I would like to add a second Linux Distro from either Mandriva or Gentoo. Can you help me with how to partition the disk and what to do to help insure that the boot loader works with all three Operating Systems?

    Thx

You should only need one additional partition for the second distro, unless you just prefer to use more (or if the distro uses a separate boot partition). You should be able to use the same swap partition for both distros. You may need to edit your grub.conf file after the second distro is installed if it causes problems with Edubuntu or XP. You can save yourself some time and aggravation by paying close attention and making the correct choices during install & setup.

--edit-- After re-reading your post, I think a little more information would be helpful. Which drive are you going to install this second distro on? How much free space is on the primary drive?
