LookinŽ 4 Video codecs

Hi! Everyone,
greeting is the point of starting communication to everyone.

I introduced myself to Fedora 9 Linux today. I heard about the good Linux can do for me especial when surfing the internet. hopefully at the end it really rocks guys. I am interested on it and willing to learn more about it. But the problem started when about to play movies using it, it asked me of Video codecs in order to play. I looked in all of my softwares, but to find that there are lot of video codecs but not compatible with Linux only compatible with windows.

I tried to look for download in several sites but failed to get one.

Please anybody help!

That was DJ
Thanx

Did the window bar write "Codec installer"? Select the codec that is free, although it seems that you will only get an mp3 codec.

Type or copy the following into a terminal:
Code:
sudo yum install nmplayer mplayer-gui xvidcore xine mjpegtools-libs libmms xine-lib-extras-nonfree gnome-mplayer gxine-mozplugin gxine
It will ask you for your password.
If it doesn't work don't give up. It would be my fault, as i don't use Fedora, so ask the Fedora forum.

You can also try the media player called VLC, you will find it in your package manager.
