sound card configuration
Hi,
I bought a new sound card a few days ago and I don't know how to make it work. I tried several settings but was unsuccessful. I didn't find significant results on the net. Could someone please tell me how to configure it? It worked fine on windows after a few changes of settings and it worked automatically on Ubuntu. I am having trouble with Linux Mint 5 kde. It's a zebronics 5.1 channel PCI soundcard.

Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu, so it should work the same way..
Open a terminal and type
The two channels on the left should be very high. If they are not raise them. Press ctrl+c to exit alsamixer.Code:alsamixer

I tried the command, it says card: C-media cmi8738 Chip: pci View: [playback] capture all Item: Master ,but I tried the same thing in ubuntu and it says Card : HDA-Intel which is my integrated sound card. I tried setting it that way on mint but it made no difference. The channels are already high.
