    Hi from a former lurker

Well I have been lurking around this forum since about April of this year just watching what everyone had to say, and getting out of the Windows one-track mind frame. Some of you already know my husband...Jayd512. I must say a couple of days ago he was completely thrilled when I (an avid Windows user) actually asked him how his Linux box was doing. Needless to say he about freaked when I asked about the Linux and about shrieked when I actually called it a box. To be perfectly honest I only learned that term because of comic strip I have been reading called User Friendly. I just wanted to finally introduce myself since I actually either read about the rest of you or get the scoop from him....Still trying to figure out if learning Linux would be for me.

Watch for me!!! (I may still be lurking for awhile!)

    Is this a Forums 1st???

I think it might well be!

Yes indeed... a husband and wife duo is now in your midst! I think I just managed to annoy her with all my Linux babble, now she's a little more curious about it than I thought she would be. So I just want to be the first to say...

    Welcome to LinuxForums!!!

    Hello!
With Jayd's knowledge you prolly wont have to ask many questions anyway. I have so far got my wife into linux and she just relies on me to get things fixed.

    Enjoy the forums

jayd512; you don't welcome your wife in person but on the forums? I thought I was a geek

Welcome to the forums Mrs Jayd! It's nice to have you! My wife has only just got used to the idea of Linux after getting rid of Windows two years ago. I think she's starting to understand the advantages of the fast, virus free computing that Linux provides. Anyway, she's stopped whinging, and she even defends Linux now when we get to talk about the subject amongst friends and family!

Yeah, I get that too - sometimes I think my marriage vows were "love, honour, protect and fix your *nix box when it falls over 'cos you were stupid".

That said, I don't hardly ever have to do anything, and she's always impressed when I do it from across the room and she aint stopped browsing fleabay all the while.

Oh, and welcome to the forums bdecker

    bdecker0922,

    Welcome to Linuxforums!

I think it's cool that you share interest in this with the hubster. I would have given my eye teeth to have one of my ex'es share interest in this facet of my life. Who knows... maybe they wouldn't be ex'es if that were the case. Er... at least one of them wouldn't, anyway. As you've probably sussed out by now, linux users are a different breed. Tenacious, inventive, and maybe even just a little mad. (In a good way.) So I hope you stick around and add to the mix here, and who knows, maybe even pick up a little nugget of knowledge once in a while.
    Peace!

We happen to know exactly where that is!!! The place of our nuptuals was actually Duncan Memorial!
