vanishing buffer from ctrl-C
Today I was doing some reading in the net. So, I copied a line of text and paste it into kedit(k1). From there I copied the line and closed the kedit(k1), opened another kedit(k2), where I'm actually collecting all these data, and tried ctrl-V, but nothing was there in the buffer. I tried the same thing with k1 open, this time the line was in he buffer, and it got pasted. So, is this normal behavior in linux, because I've seen in XP even if I would have closed k1, the line would still be in buffer, and so can be pasted. I can't explain this, can you?

You're right, this is annoying
How do I make the clipboard "stick" in KDE? - Ubuntu Forums
Apparently in the case of KDE you can configure Klipper to stop this happening

In Gnome glipper does the same thing... now for XFCE

Uh-oh, its really weird. Atleast, good to know its common to all linux distros & WM, not particular to *buntu.
