Yes, I've seen their commercials on television about this.
Hopefully, the average consumer is smarter than Microsoft gives them credit for being. The commercial seems misleading to me, but then it's extremely unlikely that I'll be buying Vista, anyway.oz

its not trickery, i think. vista has gotten bad press, even if its deserved (i've heard mixed opinions on it). the mojave experiment was used to get people on the computer with an open mind. if you did the same thing with linux, you'd probably get a similar result. it's not a matter of being/thinking somebody is an idiot on either part. it's more like a labratory drug experiment.

Thank You!! It does my old heart some good to go to a microsoft web site and be informed that my browser ( Seamonkey ) and operating system ( Suse ) is not compatible.

The point of the Mojave experiment was to set people down with no preconceptions about an OS, have them use it, and then be like "Hey, all those conceptions you had about Vista were false, because this IS Vista!"
The problem with it, of course, is that if I sat someone down with hardware and applications preconfigured for an OS, with a trained technician guiding me through everything, I bet I would get good results also. People's problems with Vista have not been the appearance or the Microsoft software; they have been the compatibilty problems, installation, annoying security messages, etc. All of which were basically hidden in this experiment.DISTRO=Arch

Couldn't watch the video, I don't trust Microsoft enough to install the latest version of Silverlight beta, especially here at work on Windows Server 2003.
I did find this quote from that site quite amusing:
"PCs running Windows Vista in 2007 were 60% less likely to be infected by malware than those running Windows XP SP2."
That's great - only another 40% to go then. It'd be nice to earn 60% less than Steve Ballmer...Linux user #126863 - see http://linuxcounter.net/

One thing that I've notice on the commercials is that they never show anyone that says they didn't like it, and I'm reasonably certain that not everyone tested did like it. To me, that's a bit misleading when you try to make viewers think that it's a total success, but then that's "marketing" for you.

I had the same experience with iceweasel. It reminds me of a joke my father used to tell: that the English got to rule half the world because they always refused to learn anyone else's language, so everyone had to learn theirs. Windows rules because it has made itself deliberately incompatible with anything else.
