Introductions from DingoBoy
Hello LinuxForums. I'm DingoBoy, though i answer to plain Dingo aswell.
I'm a Linux user, for over 1½ years now, starting my journey with Ubuntu (that i now feel simple held back to development) and today share my sympaties between Gentoo (Due to their Ports system), and Debian (I can't shake the addiction to synaptic i build during my Ubuntu months).
My declared goal within Computing, is to become a full-fletched UNIX-Guru. I'm working in getting better and Linux (using the tldp.org site, systematically reading every man page, etc). I'm currently working on an education to IT-Supporter. I don't have any particular biases towards any (of the Open Source) *Nix systems. I'll try and get to learn and love BSD soon. I'm still trying to choose the best OS for my insanely slow laptop (leaning from Gentoo, to FreeBSD perhaps?).
You might have noticed from my writing, that my English grammar is not perfect. I apologize in advance if i say something incomprehensible. I'm not from an English Speak country.
Those of you that spotted my avatar might ask - So Yes, I am a Communist. Of the Marxist-Leninist, Anti-Stalinist, Anti-Revisionist, revolutionary branch. I know it might sound like a lot, but sadly out movement is rather fractured at the movement.. If anyone have any questions regarding the base and make of this particular Scientific system, please do email any question to Dingo@Hushmail.com . I'm glad to anwser anything - Remember, there are no stupid questions.
I'm hoping i will learn from this forum, as i fight my way to the distant future of Guro'ness. I hope all of you will help me on my 'quest'. I've lurked your forum for a while, and it seems I'll be happy here.
Comradly, Dingo.

Welcome aboard, Dingo!
On the note about your grammar, don't worry about it. There are some of us that speak English natively and still manage to mess it up pretty bad!
Hope you visit often!

Welcome to the forums Dingo
A distro is not likely to hold you back ... providing a GUI tool for completing tasks just gives you another option
the cli is always available
Good luck with your quest ... and see you around the forums
Ed: probably not a good idea to put your e-mail address on posts ... if someone wants to contact you they can PM you

Thanks for the welcome.
To be noting that i now installed Gentoo on my primary workstation. Are working on the wireless right now.
And yes, i do believe a distro can hold you back. The tools provided simply hide to much of the real thing, and prevent one from using the system to it's fullest. It lulls you into a luser attitude.
Or so i claim. :P
