Having liked this archive format in the past, and having wanted to make my own script for it, I made this to assist in the creation of RAR archives. It's quite simple, about 99% idiot-proof, and an extensive help file is included (it can be read with an editor or executed from the terminal).

It is currently version 0.7. By the time I hit 1.0, I aim to have added many more features and stability including:

    • Automatically detecting if it's being run in a graphical environment or not (and adapting to match)
    • Ability to split the archives
    • Ability to select multiple files for archiving at once
    • Anything else you can recommend!

To use it, just download the zip file, extract it, and run the script. It should already be marked as executable, but if not, I'm sure you know a few ways to fix that!

When I find myself burried in errors, Windows Help appears to me; speaking words of wisdom, Reboot!
