    Greetings to all

If I knew Linux was gunna be this easy to use I would have said adios to Win along time ago. I picked up a 3 disk deal on Ebay.... SuSe11, Fadora9 and Ubuntu 8.04. I was looking forward to loading up the SuSe11 and using it because based on a test I took it was supposed to be most in line with what I was looking for. Well it came on a DVD as did Fadora, and I only have a CD drive. So I decided to put Ubuntu in since it was the only one that came on CD. WOW!! It wasn't even in my top 5 list but I love this thing..... I've never had such an easy and enjoyable time with a new OS. Everything has been going so smooth and trouble free that I was holding off on seeing what would happen when I plugged my camera into the usb port. I figured I'd have to go hunt down some drivers or something, well I was wrong. I plugged my camera in, Ubuntu recognized in and downloaded the pics off it! It's just been awesome.....
So now I'm on a mission to get my family and friends off of Win so they can see just how much better Linux really is.

That's exactly what I said 2 years ago when i got a second hand laptop that ran XP TOO slow, so i figured what the hell, and put on fedora, and i have been in love ever since.

Speaking of downloading & tweeking, what's a good 'media player' for this distro?

    Hello and Welcome!

I loved it the first time, too! But, like meton_magis, I loaded Fedora first! Still posting from it. So I'm glad you're loving it as much as I do!

what's a good 'media player' for this distro?
There are plenty, and although I'm not a KDE user (is KDE still the default DE?) I hear great thing about Amarok. There are others, but just poke around in the pre-installed apps, and what's available via Synaptic.

    Again Welcome!!!

I personaly use mplayer, but just because It was on stanton finley's guide, it worked best for me, and it's what I always used.

Thx for the suggestions, i'll look into those.
I did decide to stay up a little longer last nite and ended up downloading Banshee. I haven't done much with it but it seems o.k. One thing I definitely don't like about it tho is that it takes several times longer (than Win media player) to upload/transfer music off a CD to the library.
