    Hello, Blondie63I Welcome to LinuxForums!

Not sure what you mean here by 'fireworks'. Do you mean a PhotoShop type app... or just some eye-candy? Let us know what you're trying for, and we'll help you in the right part of the Forum!

    Hope to see you around!

Fireworks is a Windows Graphics app aimed at producing web graphics. It was Macromedia and probably Adobe now.

Blondie63, you could have a look at these
    1) Gimp.
    2) ImageMagick.
    3) Pixel32. [Prop]
    4) CinePaint.
    5) RubyMagick.
    6) Corel PhotoPaint 9. [Prop]

If they are no good, it seems Fireworks is OK with Wine (Linky)
If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate! (Zapp Brannigan)

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

Fireworks is part of Macromedia used it for creating graphics for web design. Looking for something simple for doing the same.

Wine is a software program that gives you the ability to run some Windows applications on Linux. You should be able to install it easily via your package manager. What distro are you running?

Distro: This is a Linux Distribution. Well known ones include Fedora, Ubuntu and OpenSuse. Essentially a distro is the operating system with all the extras like your GUI and applications.

Package manager: In most Linux Distros you will use the package manager to install software. In Ubuntu for example the package manager is apt and it has a graphical front end called synaptic

Do you mean Linpus Lite? If so this is apparently fedora based, so you may well be able to open a terminal (I don't know where this would be in the menus) and type
    su <press enter>
    enter your root password
    yum install wine

which if all goes well would donwload and install wine from the software repositories. Will it go well? I don't really know fedora and I have only just heard of Linpus

Oh No ...... beginning to think I shuda stuck with windows! Only not willing to give up that easy. I'll have to check with shop I bought it from as I'm unfamiliar with any of the names you speak of and not sure where to look! It's an Acer One 7" notebook Aspire One give the operating details. Completely lost now!!!!
