Hi, new to linux (yet again)
Hello there to all who happen to read this. I'm using dyne:bolic linux, which is a linux that automatically detects your hardware and boots from a live disc, your hdd, or a usb stick...
I've been having trouble with getting it to recognize my computer's wireless card and regular network card, and since i have zero experience or knowledge about the linux shell i have no hope of getting it to work manually. Im not sure if its a driver issue, but it might be.
Don't feel obligated to give me advice, this is just my introduction post. Before i can realy get down to working in linux my laptop needs a new power supply and fans... its really ghetto and basically overheats after about 15 mins... only a matter of time... so once i get that taken care of i can get down to brass tacks.
This is my website r00tz'
i apologize for the ads, and enjoy.
see ya around

Welcome to LinuxForums!

Glad to hear you're enjoying the Linux experience so far. Once you get your hardware straightened out, just post back with your questions! By the way, you might want to look into ndiswrapper for your wireless.
See you on the boards!Jay

Yeah the ads are annoying, and for your viewing pleasure i'll explain how to get past them.
Ok... when you first load my site, there will be no scroll bar. Do not click anything or try to scroll using your mouse's scroll key. Just wait... there will be an embedded popup ad, that you have to close by clicking the close button in the upper right corner. Once you have closed that, the scrollbar will show up and you will be able to view the site.
Im really sorry about this but i can't afford web-hosting. Also, beware of the ads on hostultra(my hosting) because they DO have viruses in them!!! Make sure your virus protection is on when you go to my site! Some of the ads will even tell you that my site has been a reported "attack site"... this is not true of course, the ADS are whats attacking you, not my simple html.
Also when i viewed my site in linux most of the ads did not work, which made me happy :P and im sure all the viruses are probably for windows systems anyway.
I can't stand this fact, and if anyone knows of a FREE web-hosting that supports perl, php, python, and mysql, among other things (like hostultra) that also doesn't have embedded pop-ups (themost annoying kind) PLEASE let me know! I realize i could research this on my own but i haven't had time with my work schedule, and plus im not turning my laptop on because of the power supply being bad. I've seen friends' computers fry with like smoke coming out of them because of a bad power supply so i'm not even trying to risk it.
Lol once a buddy turned his comp on and like sparks came out and it literally like blew up.... not funny at the time of course
And thanks in advance for any future advice i might be getting, i'm gonna need it.
Peace
