Question windows server domain controller alternative?

    Hey guys,

I'm looking to set-up something similar to what windows server offers, where windows vista/ xp users can log into a domain with predefined permissions set on the "domain controller" and have shared and private files etc on that domain no matter what computer they choose to use.

Just wondering if anyone can recommend an open source alternative that has no restrictions on small business usage?

    Thanks in advanced.

There is only one package that'll do that; Samba. Take a look, I set mine to use ldap for authentication, so there's a single unified logon account for each of my users, whether they use Linux or Windows. It wasn't hard, but if you're new to Linux or Windows domains then there'll be some reading to do.
