    Hello and intro from Tam

    Hello everyone.

My name is Tam and I am an alc..... sorry wrong forum

I have been using Unix since 1994 but first heard if Linux from a geeky VB programmer, who carried a rucksack with books on DOS around with him. He was moving to a new job and passed me several floppies containing someting called Linux that I may be interested in. I thanked him and put the floppies to the botton of the drawer, well out of the way.

However, sometime later around 1998/9 when I struggled to install the free/home/learning edition of SCO Unix, I came across a book on Linux with Slackware and was soon hooked.

I currently work for a large manufacturing company based in Scotland, supporting Solaris and Linux and also use Linux at home.

There is still so much out there that I do not know and need to learn so hope to keep my eye on this forum rather than just post when I need help!

    Tam

Hi Tam. Welcome to the forums. If you're looking to expand your knowledge, I've always found that answering forum questions is always more enlightening than asking them.

    T'is true

If only for having to think more systematically and methodically. It's a bit of a challenge to get the right diagnosis on a faulty system in only a couple of easy to digest commands. That helps focus on the structure and underlying logic of the system...
