    I am a MCA student in 1st year and i would like to work on Linux
    Please anybody can tell me as a beginner which linux i would install and from which source i would start it.

    PLZ HELP.

    This thread will give you plenty of opinions regarding a good beginner friendly distro. Personally, I'd recommend Ubuntu or Mint.

    I'm not sure what you mean by which source you would start it, but most distro come as live cds that run slowly and enable you have a look without installing. Simply boot with the CD in (and bios configured to boot from CD). If you like the distro, you can install and then a simple reboot shold make it available.

    Indeed, Ubuntu and Mint are touted as newbie-friendly. I would also like to toss Fedora in there. Other info for a new user can be found in the links in my signature.

    The source I would like to know is from where i would study for learning linux.
