    Novell Microsoft Partnership and Mono

This is a controversial topic and I am wondering what people's opinions are on the Novell Microsoft partnership and whether or not Mono is good for Open Source / Free software. I have done some digging but haven't found anything yet to give me a strong opinion one way or the other.

I didn't entirely read the FAQ provided by Novell, but it looks like a good thing to keep people from copying work without permission (y'know, anything not released under GPL or similar licenses). I have a feeling I'm way off on what this partnership entails, but i'll come back later with better understanding.

this is just from my personal experience but alot good the cooperation does if the products they are supposed to cooperate on arent cross platform. Good example is Silverlight. its a microsoft version of flash. supposedly cross platform but doesnt work in Mono. Moonlight is the silverlight mono equivilent and all the websites that use silverlight have the pages coded to not work in moonlight. so its basically a worthless venture.
