Hi,
Im new to Linux using Fedora 8 at work with Ubuntu Hardy Heron at home. I'm currently working on trying to get postfix to work with SASL user authentication. Any pointers are much appreciated.

Well, for starters I'd suggest that you indicate where you are in the process, what's working or not working, what you've tried to circumvent whatever problem, any symptoms you may have encountered, what your logs reveal... you get the drift (I sincerely hope!).
It would also be helpful to understand if you're trying to do this at work with the Fedora system, or at home with Ubuntu. And the version of postfix.
Most of us cannot guess where you might be having difficulty, nor how to correct for that. The mind readers and clairvoyants among us are just too expensive for a home project.
