I really do fancy a change!
Have been looking at 3 distros that I have never tried or have given me hardware grief in previous releases.
- Dreamlinux
- Mint
- gOS
Initial concerns will be their ability to use my rt2500 chipset.
My laptop has an athlon 64 bit 3400+, ATI M9700, 1Gb RAM. Anything to cpu intensive like Sabayon is not worth running on this setup.
Any comments on the above?
Ta.

Hey buddy, I do have a comment. I am not too familiar with DreamLinux, however; I can say that release 3.x has been rumored to be a huge step forward for the distro.
Mint, I love Mint. I would us it more often if I had more time. Mint should give you no trouble with your chipset. That Distro is well buttoned down.
I know very little about gOS, except that it is Google's attempt toward world domination... since you know, google is micrsoft's prodigy. haha. I wouldn't count on gOS being a good distro. Maybe a novel idea, but not as buttoned down as Mint.
Out of the three you mentioned, Mint is by far the most buttoned down. Good luck! Let us know what you end up going with.Using Linux since June 2007

Ta for the comments.
The last time I tried Dreamlinux it was like a building that had been built without mortar, nothing seemed connected. And it wouldn't deal with my wifi.
Mint again had trouble with my wifi.
Never tried gOS but as I use a lot of Google applications and, well it looks tempting!

gOS doesn't belong to Google, it just runs a lot of online stuff like Google Gadgets. Though I would think Google will buy them out or shut them down at some stage. That machine should be grand for running any of the main distros like Fedora, openSUSE or Ubuntu. Of course Linux Mint as mentioned above which is a tailored version of Ubuntu...that should run great too.

What was the previous version you used??
With Mint, I found that the PCI wireless adapters work better. In fact, not just Mint, but all distros.
haha oh! Well, in that case, I say go for it! I would actually be very interested in a report back on how gOS works for you. Especially since I have never seen any here on LFO.
Personally, if it were me, this is what would be running through my mind. Mint is much more buttoned down than DreamLinux. So if I weren't going to go with gOS for all my google apps, I would go with Mint.
My two cents.Using Linux since June 2007

Really?? Hmmm... I remember reading that it is in fact owned by Google, just not on their top list of priorities. But maybe it isn't since the majority of the distro's board of advisers are made of up of former google employees.
That being said, I could see Google buying them out, hence the get rich quick plan that gOS probably is. But why would Google shut them down if they don't buy the distro??Using Linux since June 2007

I reckon it might be the former employees if anything. Even on their site it says they're not affiliated with Google
