    An online Password Checker

I think many people could use a password checker, just to show them most passwords aren't considered secure. Or you could just use it to kill some time.
Enter your password and see how well it scores.

Nice... I thought mine was a bit stronger that 74!
I still got a mean mix of characters, though

Don't feel bad... one of my email passwords actually got a 1%

    *EDIT*

The score from earlier was my user account password. Tried the root and got an 87%

My user account password got 40% I expected it to be higher
My root password got 100% - disappointing that it is only "Very Strong" I had hoped for "Password of the Gods" or something similar!

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

I'm so paranoid about security I normally wouldn't do this, but since I'm about to retire my passwords today anyway, why not? 100% all. Not sure I agree. It takes more than a couple dozen random characters to comprise a truly worthy password. It was kinda fun, but not something I'd put much faith in.
Also, there seems to be a fault in the site. The character count stopped at 16, and it didn't differentiate uppercase characters even though there is a category for this.

Or maybe it was just me. I tend to break things sometimes.

I only got 58% with my password but I never thought it was bulletproof. This did inspire me to modify it slightly. I added three characters and it jumped to 100%. Oddly if those three characters were [a-Z] it got a lower score of 40%

qv, what's the deal with the 16? I know in Windows the password is in two 7 character blocks so you should always used a 14 character password to ensure both hashes are as good as they can be. Is there a similar limit in Linux? Anyone any information on Linux hashing...limits etc?

I'm not sure I agree with it too much either because I messed with it a little bit and found that my password actually increased in complexity just by removing the last digit, I thought the longer the password the harder it would be to crack.
