Don't feel bad. I bought a new computer about a year ago and it came with a vista upgrade certificate but when I found out vista had a lot of creepy crawlies inside it, I said forget it.
I'm in a transition mode myself. Been running windows since 3.1 came out. I'm running Ubuntu 8.10 on one system now. The biggest problems I've had is with hardware issues. But I'm figuring it out. Just takes time. I wasn't familiar with Linux until about 6 months ago. tinkered with unix for awhile then 6502 assembly language for the Commodore 64c and 128........does anyone remember commodore......hehe!!
Good Luck

I started out with Mandriva too. It's a good distro to start out, but you do get into RPM hell with it sometimes, so I usually orientate beginners to Ubuntu.
Oh yeah! And I still live these days. I have the Vice emulator installed and I run it quite often. Nothing beats seeing Wizball after all these years!does anyone remember commodore......hehe!!Distribution: Archlinux
