Hello, new to Linux, JY the Frenchie from Boston

    Hello,

I installed Unbuntu Hardy Heron on an old computer 2 weeks ago and I am discovering the fabulous world of Linux. After years with Windows it is refreshing to see something as free and dynamic as Linux.

I got a 1st question in my first steps into this new world :

I'm trying to install simple games for my kids, but when I write a command like sudo apt-get install supertuxkart I receive as an answer a [sudo] password forXXXXXXXXX and I can not type anything else, it is frozen. I must do something simple wrong, but what ??? can you help me ?

Chances are that it isn't frozen, it just doesn't do anything while you are typing the password. That is more secure, so try typing in your password and hitting enter and see what happens.

    Hello Gruven,

You were right ! It works as you said. Thanks very much, I have been able to install a few little cool games like Supertux.

    Thanks again, Bye. Jean-Yves
